RIDE DESCRIPTION: The description assumes you park at 28 1/2 road. Follow the sings to the south from the parking area. You go across a small field and then down a street to 28 1/4 road. You go south from here and cross through a gate at mile 0.5. Continue along a well signed trail (Brown BLM fiberglass posts). A mile 1.1 you reach a saddle. This is where the trails split. Go west along the road toward the tower. This is the Gunnison Bluffs section. The trail forks to the right just before the top of the bluff. Take this fork, but do not go right at the next fork (mile 1.8). stay on top of the bluff and curve toward the south. You cross the road again (mile 2.0) and now you are on the rim section of the trail. The trail follows the rim via the signposts for several miles. At mile 5.4 you meet the Old Spanish Trail. You can go north back the parking area from here if you wish to shorten the ride to 8 miles. Otherwise, continue south along the Gunnison Bluffs Trail. You meet the southern parking area at mile 8.9. Turn north an follow the Old Spanish Trail along a relatively straight line back to the saddle (mile 12.5). Retrace you steps back to the parking area.
