COMMENTS: One of the off-road areas around Grand Junction. This ride is essentially a free-for-all. From the starting point, head out norh and take any of the multiple trails. You need to be careful to avoid motorcycles and 4x4s. This area should not be ridden when wet. STARTING POINT: From I-70, take the Horizon Drive exit. From the off ramp, go northeast on Horizon Drive, heading towards the airport. Take a left on H Road (this is the last road before you drive into the airport). Follow H Road around the curve to 27-1/4 Rd, turn right on to 27-1/4 Rd, travel 1.5 miles, you will see the trails off to your right. At this point, it is BLM property on both sides of 27-1/4 Rd; you will see several places suited for parking and offloading your OHVs. TRAIL TYPE: SINGLETRACK AND DOUBLETRACK
APPROXIMATE RIDE TIME: 2 hours DIFFICULTY: Moderate singletrack and doubletrack
RIDE DESCRIPTION: There are many descriptions to the "true" Roller Coaster. I have never been able to follow them. You can make many great rides out here. The map below is a suggested route that we liked a lot. Make your way northeast and try to find the old railroad grade. Follow the RR grade northeast and you will find some nice singletrack on the ridges. You can gain a ridge at the Northeast and begin a nice singletrack downhill to the south. you can make up the ride from here. If you reach the airport fence ride west to the parking area.
